Our passion is to make yoga accessible!
Many Americans live with chronic pain. In fact, approximately 80% will experience back and/or neck pain at some point in their life. Yoga is commonly touted to aid in pain relief, but many students and teachers don’t realize that some postures may actually exacerbate the pain. Advanced training and experience provides for safer and more effective practice.
Repetitive Strain Injuries are hairline injuries in tissues and nerves due to repetitive overuse and typically go unnoticed. Consider activities such as running, biking, golfing, lifting, or even frequent texting. We consider your lifestyle and incorporate complementary exercises and mindfulness practices to prevent such injuries.
Experiencing occasional stress is completely normal and can even add value to your life. However, if it interferes with your daily life and relationships, we have specific tools to help manage anxiety and depression. In fact, our clients often report relying less on chemical dependencies due to their yoga therapy practice.
Did you know that lack of deep rest can be the cause of many of your health symptoms including chronic pain, gastrointestinal disturbances, or hormonal imbalances just to name a few? We offer techniques to access your body’s Parasympathetic Nervous System, the “rest-and-digest” function of your nervous system, to help your body rebalance its systems.
If you have undergone invasive treatments such as surgery, chemo/radiation, or high dose medications, we can help your body cope with the challenges and traumas. While most doctors advise patients NOT to practice yoga, yoga therapy (if very carefully administered) can speed the recovery process. We are happy to cooperate with your doctor to discuss your needs.
In addition to strengthening and toning, we help you reestablish stability in your joints – particularly in the hips, shoulder, and spine. We identifying muscle groups that are weak or inactive which commonly leads to misalignment overtime. Our yoga training helps you look great, feel great, AND increase function!
Undoubtedly, a great stretch can release tension and stress! While many yoga teachers focus primarily on flexibility, we emphasize mobility. This is important to distinguish as hypermobility (too much flexibility) may lead to pain over time. Learn how to establish the ideal balance of strength and flexibility.
Studies now show that yoga practices such as mindfulness and meditation can actually increase brain matter and function! Reverse or slow the aging process by improving memory, focus, concentration, and understanding. Learn how you can even incorporate simple mindfulness practices to your daily activities.
Adrenal fatigue is prevalent in modern lifestyle. Yoga breathing techniques and postures oxygenates your muscles and organs to increase energy. Imagine improvement in your work performance, increasing participation in hobbies and activities, and relying less on caffeine and sugars to get you through the day.
Yoga is intended to take you out of your comfort zone with challenging and awkward postures. However, when the practice becomes too awkward or even painful, it leads to discouragement. We carefully choose exercises to systematically challenge you while building your inner strength and confidence.
